Classes, Workshops & Events in 2022
Think of fire elements, fire energy, images of fire, your personal experiences with fire—both metaphorical fires and literal ones. Where is your fire energy? And does that have a shape, a size, or a color? What are you fanning the flames of right now in your life, or maybe those flames have been extinguished?
Artist Sam Francis says: “Color is light on fire.” This workshop will begin the process of attuning to your own “light on fire” and the colors of your whole self expression. If you want to know more about your answers to any of these questions, come inspire you fire with us! You will get to make an emergent collage, move with it, move with each other, write, reflect, and journey into your inner fire during this 2-day workshop retreat. We will provide new resources, tools, and connections for you to keep the fire going in your life after the retreat has concluded, giving your creative soul more energy and passion for your upcoming projects!
Please join me at the Left Bank Brasserie in Larkspur, CA for a delicious meal and networking with other fabulous entrepreneurial women!
As a new member of the Networking Entrepreneurial Women of Marin, I’m excited to be presenting an in-person talk on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 6 PM.
I’ll be speaking about the question: What does creativity mean to you and your business? We all have preconceived ideas and stories that we tell ourselves which allow us to live our lives. Some result in wonderful outcomes… some not so much. In business, sometimes we might have to go along with what benefits others, even when we may not agree with or believe in it. By taking the time to inquire into what our own experience is, it can have the effect of empowering, validating, and connecting us with all the parts of ourselves that want and need expression.
Outcomes from this talk:
Explore and reflect on how you currently express yourself in business.
Learn new ways of defining what creativity means for you
See your creative power and inner wisdom reveal itself personally and professionally.
I’ll be presenting the findings from s(e)oul expressions at the Seventeenth International Conference on the Arts in Society!
The Seventeenth International Conference on the Arts in Society is an in-person and online blended conference taking place July 4-6, 2022 at San Jorge University in Zaragoza, Spain! The conference offers an interdisciplinary forum for discussion of the role of the arts in society. It is a place for critical engagement, examination, and experimentation, developing ideas that connect the arts to their contexts in the world: on stage, in studios and theaters, in classrooms, in museums and galleries, on the streets and in communities. It features research addressing the following themes with a special focus on History/Histories: From the Limits of Representation to the Boundaries of Narrative
THEME 1: PEDAGOGIES OF THE ARTS
THEME 2: ARTS HISTORIES AND THEORIES
THEME 3: NEW MEDIA, TECHNOLOGY, AND THE ARTS
THEME 4: THE ARTS IN SOCIAL, POLITICAL, AND COMMUNITY LIFE
My presentation is for the Practice Research Focus on Theme 4. I’ll share the results of my fieldwork study guiding 3 other Korean adoptees through the Tamalpa Institute Life/Art Process: an expressive arts approach for transformation that includes embodied movement/dance, art-making, writing, and performance-based ritual using the arts-based research method of A/R/Tography. The study includes 6 months of 1:1 coaching and monthly group workshops exploring the themes of solidarity, empowerment, and self expression to provide each participant with tools to integrate personal stories, identity politics, and psychological material through multimodal arts practices engaging myself as an artist/researcher/teacher in relationship with the other participants and to my own life/art process.
Join me at the 8th Annual Evans/Williams Somatic Dance Conference & Performance Festival!
Founder Bill Evans of Evans Somatic Dance Institute and Coordinator Cynthia J. Williams will be co-directing the twice-delayed 2022 Somatic Dance Conference on the theme “Embodying Joy: Empowering Students and Ourselves with Somatic Knowledge.” The conference includes three full days of presentations/workshops, three concerts and a closing event.
I will be leading a one-hour movement workshop on Euphoric Movement: Finding the Primordial Rhythm of Joy!
Joy lives in the connection between the root, sacral, and heart chakras. It exists in the communication between being grounded, our sensual and creative expression, and expansion in an open heart. Earth and fire energy lights up the heart center, allowing for more safety and restoration, so that we can receive joy in the heart.
In this workshop, you’ll be in a creative and safe space that will allow you to find your own direction and luxuriate in the joy that comes from being resourced in your body. I’ll lead you through a journey that explores the physical space around you through a variety of movement and music explorations to find the euphoric rhythm of joy. In shedding the weight that we carry, we can unfold and lift that weight off the heart, back body, legs and feet to find new directions in life.
This will be an in-person conference on Wednesday through Sunday, July 6-10, 2022 at Hobart & William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. Early bird registration goes through June 1st!
We are telling real stories, sharing experiences and celebrating the journey of being seen.
These incredible authors all have various perspectives and stories to share and enhance what invisibility means to them, why it has been a part of their journey and how the concept of the spotlight has existed in their lives for a while or entered into their story more recently.
We will be exploring this topics of being true to yourself, being seen but not heard, the fearless journey and so much more. There will be live events where you can join the speaker(s) as well as pre-recorded interviews and workshops that will give you more insight into these authors and tools that you can add to your toolkit to help you to feel more empowered and expansive.
We will open up the summit, Monday May 23rd @ 3pm -4:15 pm EST, with a live moderated conversation and then have break out rooms to expand on topics and dive deeper into the conversations. We will close the summit on Wednesday May 25th @ 7pm - 7:45pm EST with a Q& A after learning more about the authors you will get to participate in the conversation by asking questions and sharing your thoughts.
We welcome you as we only grow through true connection and awareness of self and others.
Have you been trying to manifest doing what you’ve been taught, and yet, something feels off?
I often have clients that think there’s a right and a wrong way to manifest, and I’ve been there too. We think we should manifest in a certain way or that it has to look like someone else’s version, especially the law of attraction, so we try to do what we’ve seen, heard or been told is what we’re supposed to do.
And yes, there is definitely something to vibrational energies, and law of attraction can work for some people, but most often, I see people end up feeling less authentic and less connected to their own mind, body and soul’s wisdom.
In my experience, I’ve found that what really works is whole self expression. It’s empowering, self-validating, and it connects you with all the parts of you that want and need a voice. And all of those parts are welcome! They all want to be seen and heard. They all need your attention, care and tending to so that you can manifest in the unique way that you're meant to and in a way that is fully aligned with your whole system!
What to expect:
Learn tools for listening to yourself on different levels of awareness
Connect to an empowering metaphor
Get prompts to continue exploring and reflecting on whole self expression
